Damaged pensioner food voucher: how to request a replacement
Between September 1 and October 15, Magyar Posta will deliver food vouchers worth 30,000 forints to pensioners, of which approximately 2.3 million beneficiaries nationwide will benefit. The government decided on the subsidy back in the spring, the aim being to help pensioners with their everyday food purchases.
According to the Hungarian State Treasury (MÁK), the voucher will not be lost even if it is damaged after receipt – for example, if the envelope is torn when opened – but retailers can only accept it in an undamaged state. In such cases, the owner must fill out the “Request for inspection of damaged or incomplete pensioner food voucher” form available on the MÁK website, and then send it together with the damaged voucher to the Hungarian State Treasury Processing Center (1139 Budapest, Váci út 71.).
The MÁK will examine the received voucher and notify the applicant in writing of the result. If the security elements can be verified, the beneficiary will receive a replacement voucher by post – in 1000 forint denominations only – to the address listed in the pension payment register.
It is important to know that the pensioner food voucher can only be used for cold food, not in catering establishments, but can be redeemed widely in markets, primary producers and shops.
