Sentix: investor sentiment in the eurozone deteriorated in March

The Sentix GmbH economic research institute’s eurozone investor sentiment index deteriorated to a level in line with analyst expectations in March, when it recorded its first weakening in three months due to the initial effects of the US-Israeli war against Iran. The February reading was the highest since July.

The Sentix Economic Index, published on Monday, which reflects investor confidence in the eurozone, fell to minus 3.1 points in March from 4.2 points in February.

Sentix said the drop was “the first sign of the economic situation since the outbreak of the Iran war and raises serious doubts about the recent recovery in the EU.”

The March 5-7. A survey of 1,055 investors between 2011 and 2016 showed that the sub-index for the assessment of the current situation deteriorated from minus 6.8 points in February to minus 9.5 points, while the sub-index reflecting the assessment of the outlook for the next six months fell from 15.8 points to 3.5 points.

According to the survey, investor pessimism has also increased in Germany. The economic sentiment index reflecting investor confidence fell from minus 6.9 points in February to minus 12.1 points.
