Sentix: investor sentiment improved in the eurozone in February

The Sentix GmbH economic research institute’s eurozone investor sentiment index improved to its highest level since July last year in February this year, when the index strengthened for the third consecutive month.

The Sentix Economic Index, published on Monday, reflecting investor confidence in the eurozone, rose to 4.2 points in February from minus 1.8 points in the previous month.

Analysts had expected a less improving indicator, minus 0.2 points for January. A year ago, the index was much weaker, at minus 12.7 points in February.

The survey of 1,091 investors conducted between February 5 and 7 showed that the sub-index for the assessment of the current situation strengthened from minus 13 points in January to minus 6.8 points, while the sub-index reflecting the assessment of the outlook for the next six months rose from 10 points to 15.8 points.

According to the survey, investor pessimism has eased in Germany. The economic index, which reflects investor confidence, rose from minus 16.4 points in January to minus 6.9 points in February, its highest level since July last year.
