SAP: Cloud development makes beer tastier
The 130-year-old Budweiser Budvar is known for its excellent beers, but its corporate governance system has been a hindrance to everyday brewing. The company, with a turnover of 140 million euros, has achieved transparency and efficiency with its new, cloud-based SAP system, which can now easily support its approximately 600 employees. Budweiser’s next step is to automate the processes – while maintaining the traditional brewing process.
Since 1895, the Czech brewery Budweiser Budvar has gained an international reputation for its high-quality lager beer, which is recognized by beer enthusiasts worldwide. The brewery is proud to still use traditional brewing methods, combined with the best local ingredients. Each batch is prepared with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that the rich taste and authentic character of Budvar beer is preserved.
That’s why it was crucial for Budweiser Budvar, a recognized player in brewing, to transform its processes to increase scalability and efficiency while strengthening its commitment to quality and authenticity. The goal was to update process models, leverage industry best practices, and introduce automation and digitalization on a forward-looking cloud-based ERP system.
Budweiser previously operated on aging, legacy systems that hindered automation and adoption of industry best practices. The old system also had limited room for expansion, process standardization, and international scaling, and had limited integration capabilities to synchronize different business functions and external systems.
