Ryanair: from November you can only travel with a digital boarding pass
Ryanair will completely phase out paper boarding passes from 12 November 2025, with passengers only being able to board flights using a digital code generated in the myRyanair mobile app. The change also means that it will no longer be possible to download and print boarding passes.
The switch was originally planned for 3 November, but the airline has set a later date to allow the move to take place during the less busy period after the autumn school break.
The company said the decision would not have a drastic impact on the travelling public, as around 80 per cent of Ryanair passengers already use digital boarding passes. The company stressed that the mobile card will make airport processes simpler and faster, reduce paper use and fit in with the digitalisation trends in aviation.
The elimination of paper boarding passes raises questions about how it will affect passengers who do not have a smartphone or the necessary app, and Ryanair has not yet provided details on what alternative it will provide for them.
