Spring Happiness brand canned lychee recalled due to pesticide content
Based on a notification received through the European Union’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed Safety (RASFF), an insecticide (diflubenzuron) exceeding the limit value was detected in Dutch canned lychees, some of which also arrived in Hungary via a Dutch importer; the companies involved in the case recalled the affected Spring Happiness brand cans from consumers – the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) announced.
The authority requests that anyone who has purchased the 567 gram product called Lychees in Light Syrup/ Licsi sirupban, Spring Happiness brand, should not consume it.
It was emphasized that the NKFH contacted the companies concerned without delay, who, in cooperation with the authority, ensured the recall of the affected items from consumers. The authority is monitoring the measures taken by the companies and the further fate of the recalled products (destruction or removal).
Diflubenzuron is an insecticide whose excessive intake may have harmful effects on health, especially in the long term or in sensitive groups such as children, the NKFH said in a statement.
