Economic sentiment in the euro area deteriorated in January
Economic sentiment in the euro area and the European Union deteriorated in January, according to a report by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG EcFin).
The euro area economic sentiment index (ESI) decreased by 0.9 points month-on-month to 91.5 points in January, well below market expectations. Analysts expected 89.5 points for January. In the European Union, the ESI fell by 0.6 points to 91.2 points in January. (MTI)
