Economic sentiment has deteriorated in the euro area in January
Economic sentiment in the euro area has deteriorated in January, but it remained close to the 17-year peak reached last month.
According to a report released on Tuesday by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (EcFin), the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI), reflecting consumers’ confidence in the economy, fell to 114.7 points in January from the 115.3 points of the previous month.
