Ifo’s business sentiment index in Germany deteriorated in June
Instead of the minimal improvement expected by analysts, the German business sentiment index of the ifo economic research institute of the University of Munich worsened in June.
According to the report published by the ifo economic research institute on Monday, the business sentiment index decreased for the first time this year, reaching 88.6 points in June, after 89.3 points, the highest since last June. The average of analysts’ expectations included a minimally strengthening index of 89.4 points for June.
The sub-index for assessing the current situation was the same as in May, 88.3 points, while experts estimated 88.4 points. The sub-indicator reflecting the assessment of business prospects deteriorated, falling from 90.3 points in May to 89 points, while analysts expected a strengthening value of 91 points for June.
