Consumer confidence in the euro area and the EU deteriorated in August
Consumer confidence in the euro area and the European Union deteriorated in August, according to a preliminary flash estimate from the European Commission.
In the 19 countries of the eurozone, the consumer confidence index fell by 0.9 points to minus 5.3 points in August. Analysts expected a less deteriorating indicator, minus 5 points.
In the 27 Member States of the European Union, the value of the consumer confidence index fell by 0.7 points to minus 6.3 points in August. (MTI)
