Consumer confidence in the euro area deteriorated in August
Consumers confidence in the euro area and in the European Union deteriorated in August, according to a survey by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN).
According to preliminary results released on Thursday, the confidence index dropped 0.5 points to 7.1 points in the eurozone of 19 countries. Analysts expected minus 7.0 points from August.
In the 28 Member States of the European Union, the consumer confidence index fell by 1.1 points, to minus 7.0 points. (MTI)
