Tourism economy deteriorating, but better than the national economic average
In June 2025, 70% of tourism companies reported an increase in their service prices in the last 3 months (the same proportion in May) compared to the same period of the previous year, 25% did not change their prices, while 5% reported a decrease.
67% of tourism companies reported an increase in their operating costs in the last 3 months compared to the same period of the previous year, 32% did not change these costs, while 1% reported a decrease. Operating costs increased by an average of 18% in the sector in the last 3 months compared to the same period of the previous year (which is higher than measured in May).
The National Association of Tourism and Hospitality Employers (VIMOSZ), together with the Hungarian Tourism Association Foundation and GKI Economic Research Ltd., measures the expected development of the tourism economy on a monthly basis and publishes the Tourism Economy Index, thereby providing the market and the public with information about the trends expected in the near future.
