Italian pharmaceutical company Fidia acquires Romanian company

The Romanian Meditrina Pharmaceuticals SRL has been acquired by the Italian pharmaceutical company Fidia Farmaceutici, economedia.ro reports, citing a company statement.

The acquisition is part of Fidia Farmaceutici’s 2025-2026 investment plan with a budget of 150 million euros (58.891 billion forints), the company said. The acquisition of the British Altacor also took place in parallel with the Romanian company.

“These two acquisitions are another decisive step towards international development and are part of the strategic operations we have carried out in recent years,”

– said Carlo Pizzocaro, Chairman and CEO of Fidia Farmaceutici.

Meditrina Pharmaceuticals is engaged in the wholesale trade of urological, gynecological and dermatological products. The company, which employs nearly 40 people, achieved a pre-tax profit of 1.732 million lei (133.918 million forints) with a turnover of 39.259 million lei (3.035 billion forints) in 2024. Through its subsidiary, Meditrina is also present in the Republic of Moldova.

Fidia Farmaceutici has been producing hyaluronic acid medicines since the 1950s, and is one of the global market leaders in its field. The company, which is present in more than 120 markets with its products, has 1,700 employees and its turnover last year was 510 million euros (200.231 billion forints).
