Retail turnover in Romania increased by 4.4 percent last year
According to raw data, the volume of retail sales in Romania increased by 4.4 percent last year compared to the year 2021, the Romanian National Statistics Institute announced on Monday.
Last year’s 4.4 percent increase was mainly due to the 9.6 percent expansion of fuel trade, but non-food items were also sold 4.5 percent more in the period under review, while sales of food, beverages and tobacco products rose by 1.4 percent.
In December last year, according to raw data, the volume of retail trade increased by 3.6 percent compared to the last month of the previous year, according to the adjusted value, the expansion was 3.8 percent. Compared to last November, retail turnover increased by 7.5 percent according to the raw data, and by 1.4 percent according to the adjusted value. Retail turnover, which is one of the main indicators of domestic consumption, increased by 10.1 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year in Romania, after having increased by 2.2 percent in 2020 compared to 2019.
