Fewer guests in Romania spent slightly more nights in accommodation in June than last year
In June, 2.2 percent fewer tourists stayed in tourist accommodation in Romania than a year earlier, the National Institute of Statistics announced on Wednesday.
The number of tourists in the first summer month was 1.301 million, compared to 1.330 million in the same period in 2024. The number of domestic guests decreased by 4.2 percent to 1.052 million, while that of foreigners increased by 7.2 percent to 248.6 thousand.
The number of guest nights in June was 2.836 million, which is 0.2 percent higher than the level a year earlier. The number of domestic guest nights decreased by 1 percent to 2.345 million, while that of foreigners increased by 6.3 percent to 491 thousand.
In the first half of the year, the number of tourists staying in tourist accommodation for at least one night was 5.792 million, 0.1 percent more than in the same period in 2024. The number of guest nights increased by 2.3 percent to 11.580 million.
The number of domestic tourists decreased by 1.1 percent to 4.681 million, while domestic guest nights increased by 1.6 percent to 9.242 million. The number of foreign tourists increased by 5.5 percent to 1.110 million, while foreign guest nights increased by 5.2 percent to 2.338 million. In the first half of 2025, the number of tourists arriving from Hungary increased by 7.7 percent to 55,666. The most foreign visitors came to Romania from Germany (104,760), Italy (103,002) and the United Kingdom (72,726).
