The number of tourists and guest nights in Romania also decreased in February
The number of tourists and guest nights in Romania decreased in February compared to a year earlier, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on Friday.
The number of visitors spending at least one night in official accommodation fell by 3.5 percent, from 847.5 thousand a year earlier to 817.6 thousand in February. The number of guest nights fell by 3.4 percent, from 1.629 million to 1.575 million.
The number of domestic tourists decreased by 4.5 percent, to 683.2 thousand, while foreign tourists increased by 1.7 percent, to 134.4 thousand. The recovery in international tourism was driven by tourists from Asia, whose number increased by 37.8 percent, while the number of visitors from Europe, North America and Africa fell by 1.4, 10.8 and 9.1 percent respectively compared to a year earlier.
In the first two months of the year, the number of tourists in Romania was 3 percent higher and the number of guest nights was 4.2 percent higher than in the same period in 2024.
