Tourist traffic in Romania has increased to the level before the coronavirus epidemic
In Romania, in the first nine months, the number of tourists using official accommodation increased by 12.1 percent to 10.7 million, and the number of guest nights increased by 11.5 percent to 23.3 million compared to the same period last year, the national statistics institute (INS) announced on Thursday.
This means that tourism is again at the level of the last year before the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic: the number of tourists is minimally higher, and the number of guest nights is slightly lower than the value at that time. In the first nine months of 2019, 10.44 million tourists used official accommodation in Romania, and the number of guest nights was 23.9 million.
Until the end of September this year, 9.07 million of the guests arriving at commercial accommodation were Romanian citizens, and 1.63 million were foreigners. The number of the former increased by 9 and the latter by 33 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
