Retail turnover in Romania increased by 8.6 percent in 2024
Romania’s retail trade turnover increased by 8.6 percent in 2024, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced on Thursday.
Revenue from the distribution of food, beverages and tobacco products exceeded the 2023 value by 3.8 percent. The growth in non-food products was 14.8 percent, while that of fuels was 3.6 percent.
In December, retail trade turnover was 7.8 percent higher, both in raw and calendar-adjusted terms, than in the same period in 2023. According to raw data, food turnover decreased by 0.3 percent, while non-food products and fuels increased by 15.9 and 5.2 percent, respectively.
The data, adjusted for calendar effects, show a 1 percent increase in retail sales in the distribution of food, 15.7 percent in non-food products, and 3.1 percent in fuels.
