In Romania, the volume of retail trade increased by 5.2 percent in the first quarter
In Romania, according to raw data, the volume of retail trade increased by 5.2 percent in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, the national statistics institute (INS) announced on Friday. According to the value adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, the increase was 5.1 percent.
According to the raw data, the increase is mainly due to a 7.3 percent increase in the sales of food, beverages and tobacco products, the sales volume of non-food products increased by 5.9 percent, while the level of fuel sales was the same as in the first three months of the previous year .
In March, according to the raw data series, the Romanian retail turnover exceeded last March’s level by 7.3 percent, while according to the value adjusted for the calendar effect, it exceeded the level of last March by 6.7 percent. Compared to February, the increase according to raw data was 17.9 percent, but taking seasonal and calendar effects into account, it was only 2.9 percent.
