The number of tourists in Romania increased by 3 percent in the first half of the year
The number of tourists in Romania increased by 3 percent in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period in 2023, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced on Monday.
In the first six months of the year, 5.786 million guests spent at least one night in commercial accommodation.
The number of domestic tourists increased by 1 percent annually, to 4.733 million people, and the number of foreigners by 13.1 percent, to 1.052 million people. 51,671 tourists arrived from Hungary, which is almost 0.5 percent less than the 51,891 a year earlier.
The number of guest nights increased by 2.1 percent to 11.316 million. The number of guest nights of Romanian tourists increased by 0.7 percent to 9.094 million, while foreigners spent 2.222 million guest nights in Romania, 8.4 percent more than in the first half of 2023.
