VAT decreased to 19 percent in Romania
The value added tax was reduced by further one percentage point, from 20 to 19 percent in Romania from Sunday. The one percent special tax on industrial buildings and the additional excise tax on fuel were both abolished as well.
VAT was increased in Romania from 19 to 24 percent in 2010 due to the economic crisis. The parliament in Bucharest decided one and a half years ago to return to the original level in two-stages. In 2016 VAT decreased to 20 percent, while in 2017 to 19 percent in Romania. (MTI, Baranyi László)
