The number of foreign tourists in Romania increased by 12.4 percent in May
In Romania, the number of foreign tourists visiting the country increased by 12.4 percent in May compared to the same period last year, Profit.ro wrote based on the statement of Economy Minister Radu Oprea.
According to the head of the ministry, the majority of foreign tourists came from Italy, Germany and France, where the ministry in Bucharest conducted several tourism campaigns about the natural beauties of Romania. He emphasized: the most important thing is that the campaigns are effective, so the country will be promoted as a tourist destination in Great Britain in the future.
Radu Oprea also mentioned that, according to recent statistics, the number of foreigners visiting the country as tourists exceeds those who come to Romania on business trips.
Referring to recent data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the minister responsible for the economy, enterprises and tourism said that the number of guest nights in May also increased by 8 percent compared to the same period last year.
The INS reported in May that the number of foreign tourists increased by 8.8 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024. In March, 13.8 percent more foreign tourists used Romanian accommodations, and the number of guest nights also increased by 8.3 percent.
