Máriusz Révész: HUF sixty-five billion EU funds can become available for active tourism development
More than sixty-five billion forints worth of EU funds can be made available for active tourism development in this cycle, including money for the development of water tourism, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for active Hungary announced on Saturday at the Aktív Rába – Experience from Obstacles conference in Szentgotthárd.
Máriusz Révész explained in his presentation: the government adopted the water tourism strategy last week, the details of which will be published in a colorful informational material at the end of October.
According to the state secretary, access to resources can also be helped by network cooperation, such as the one created a year ago by the Aktív Rába Association, which organized the current conference in Szentgotthárd.
Successful projects must either be of national importance or a network development. The development ideas related to water tourism in Rába correspond to both, he said.
He added: There are three thousand kilometers of navigable rivers in Hungary, and together with natural lakes, our resources are “fantastic”. Despite everything, we still use only a very small part of our possibilities – he added.
Currently, there is no unified marketing for water tourism, the rules for water tourism are “interesting”, in many cases they are outdated and in some cases unreasonably strict, but at the same time the services available along the water routes need to be further expanded – Máriusz Révész listed his personal hiking experiences as an example.
