NAV auditors found errors in every fifth inspection at Lake Balaton and Lake Velence.

Approximately two thousand five hundred inspections and five hundred tax abuses – this is the balance of the summer campaign of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) at Lake Balaton and Lake Velence – the NAV announced in a statement on Monday.

At Lake Balaton and Lake Velence, auditors carried out more than two thousand five hundred inspections between July 10 and August 31 this year. Violations were found in 20 percent of the cases.

So far, the tax office has imposed fines for default of more than 80 million forints. Those who are seriously in default can expect a subsequent tax audit in addition to the fine.

Among other things, the NAV investigated whether traders and service providers had issued invoices or receipts for their income, whether businesses had registered their employees, and whether they had complied with the rules on the sale of excise goods.

Most abuses were uncovered during the examination of the issuance of receipts and the regularity of employment.

Despite the fact that the maximum fine for failure to pay has doubled since August last year, many people still take risks. Since then, the NAV can also order anyone who fails to issue a receipt or register an employee to pay two million forints.
