Melon market works well
Due to co-operation of the Hungarian Melon Association and the HungarianFruit-Vegetable Marketing Organization (FruitVeB) previous years' disturbances on melon market has been eliminated this year.
According to Mártonffy Béla, Executive Director of FruitVeB compared to the previously estimated datas 15-20 percent less melons grew this year. The total is not expected to reach 200 thousands of tonnes.
About 60 percent of the Hungarian melon is sold abroad. That is a negative effect, that German and Austrian customers generally insist on melon of the Mediterranean. Fortunately in Poland and in the Czech Republic Hungarian melon is popular – reports Origo.
