The latest business meeting of the Hungarian Food Business Program was held with a record number of participants: 24 Hungarian food and beverage companies were represented at the export development forum held in the Czech capital, Prague. The special feature of the event is that it was the 25th such meeting in the history of the Hungarian Food Business Program.

Food trade relations between Hungary and the Czech Republic have a historical perspective. Both countries are now members of the European Union, and the Czech Republic is an easily and quickly accessible transport destination by both highway and rail. This geographical and historical proximity also justifies the even closer relations between the two countries, which gave rise to the first Czech-Hungarian business meeting specifically aimed at food export development.

The event provided a unique opportunity for Hungarian manufacturers to personally present their products on the Czech market and build direct business relationships with local importers, distributors and players in the HoReCa sector. The program focused on the growing demand for sustainable, innovative and health-conscious food solutions – these are among the areas where Hungarian manufacturers are performing increasingly strongly. Accordingly, Hungarian products included gluten-free baked goods, cold-pressed oils, rice products grown and processed in Hungary, but also classic, premium foods such as foie gras, wines, and truffle products.

The Hungarian Food Business Program aims to actively support Hungarian food companies’ entry into foreign markets and to strengthen the presence of high-quality Hungarian products in the Central European region. On the first day of the two-day meeting, company representatives were given market information on the specifics of the Czech food trade, and on the second day of the event, they were able to present their products to Czech buyers and representatives of supermarket chains in a B2B business forum. The meeting was attended by 24 domestic companies and sixty Czech importers, including the Rohlik Group, one of the largest online grocery stores in the Czech Republic.
