The turnover of deep-frozen food in Germany broke a record last year
Last year, a record was set for the consumption of deep-frozen food in Germany by the sector’s professional representative organization, the Deutsches Tiefkühlinstitut e. V. (dti) according to its regular annual report published on Tuesday.
The consumption of deep-frozen foods reached a record in 2022 in terms of both the total batch, the amount per household and the amount per person. Per capita consumption increased to 47.7 kilograms from 46.1 kilograms in 2021. Consumption per household increased by 4.1 kilograms to 96.4 kilograms in 2022 from 92.3 kilograms the previous year. Last year, total sales of deep-frozen foods increased by 3.6 percent to 3.909 million tons from 3.773 million tons in 2021 and thus exceeded the previous record in 2019 by two percent.
