Tesco’s coupon campaign breaks record – donation provides support for thousands of children
52 million forints were raised from donation vouchers sold in Tesco stores to support the Ecumenical Aid Organization’s year-round Kapaszkodó program. The chain’s customers thus surpassed last year’s results by more than 1.2 million forints, and the amount raised will cover the weekly meals of 5,000 children or provide a community experience for 10,000 children, many of whom will be able to go camping in the coming weeks thanks to the support. Children living in difficult circumstances can receive help in this way, who would otherwise not be able to start life with equal chances with their peers.
Between May 12 and June 7, 2025, Tesco employees sold a total of more than 200,000 donation vouchers to support the beneficiaries of the Ecumenical Aid Organization’s Kapaszkodó program. As the country’s largest fundraising team, Tesco store customers are thus supporting the organization’s annual work with a total of 52 million forints, which helps more than 3,600 children in difficult situations catch up.
The most donation coupons – a total of 12,260 pieces – were sold this year again at the Tesco hypermarket in Mátészalka, which once again came in first place in the charity competition between Tesco stores. The second most coupons, 5,153 pieces, found their home in Kazincbarcika, while the third place was taken by the Megapark store in Budapest with 4,565 coupons. The Megapark store was already in the top spot last year, and this year it has proven again that its customers are particularly committed to supporting good causes.
“For 16 years, we have been participating in the fundraising campaigns of our strategic partner, the Ecumenical Aid Organization, to support the equalization of opportunities for disadvantaged children together with our employees and customers. It is a great pleasure for us that we have surpassed the record amount of support of more than 50 million forints last year and can contribute 52 million forints to overcoming the disadvantages caused by poverty. I would like to thank our customers and colleagues for the huge selfless support, which allows the organization to provide children with support in various forms throughout the year. The amount of help this means is clearly shown by the fact that the amount can significantly contribute to the monthly development activities of 3,333 children or the weekly meals of up to 5,000 children,”
said Nóra Hevesi, Head of Communications at Tesco Hungary.
