Croatian tourism has had another strong season: according to preliminary data from the eVisitor system, 17.2 million tourists arrived in the country in the first eight months of 2025, spending a total of 89.8 million guest nights. This represents a 2 percent increase in arrivals and a 0.5 percent increase in guest nights compared to the same period in 2024 – Turizmus.com points out.

The vast majority of guest nights were realized on the Adriatic coast and islands: more than 86 million nights were spent here. Nearly 2 million nights were registered in the interior of the country, and 1.8 million nights in Zagreb.

In terms of counties, the most nights were realized in Istria (25.2 million), Split-Dalmatia County (16.9 million) and the Kvarner Bay region (15.2 million). The most popular destinations were Rovinj, Dubrovnik, Poreč, Umag and Split.

“Croatian tourism has achieved record results in terms of both tourist traffic and revenues. We are satisfied with the results achieved, although price stabilization remains a key issue,” said Tonči Glavina, Minister of Tourism and Sports. He added that this year’s legislative package aims to create a sustainable accommodation capacity structure.

Kristjan Staničić, Director of the Croatian Tourist Board, highlighted that the positive indicators from the beginning of the year were maintained in the high season, which strengthens Croatia’s stable international position. He added that the American market performed particularly well, with almost 600,000 visitors arriving from the United States in the first eight months, making the Americans among the top ten sending markets for the first time.

By nationality, Germans (17.2 million guest nights) led the list, followed by Croatians (11.2 million), Slovenians (9.5 million) and Austrians (6.5 million). Among the accommodation types, private accommodation was the most popular (33.9 million nights), followed by hotels (19.6 million) and campsites (17.7 million).

In the July-August peak season, 9.6 million tourists arrived, spending more than 60.4 million nights in the country. This represents a decrease of 0.5 percent in arrivals and 1.3 percent in guest nights compared to the same period in 2024.
