Record inflation in the euro area in May

According to preliminary data, the energy industry is expected to have the highest annual price increase in May, after 39.2 percent and 37.5 percent in April, in terms of the main components of euro area inflation at 8.1 percent. Prices for food and pleasure goods could rise 7.5 percent after 6.3 percent in April and prices for non-energy products up 4.2 percent from 3.8 percent a month earlier. Prices for services went up 3.5 percent after 3.3 percent in April. (MTI)
