Record-level seasonal confectionery sales in last December
Last year in the season of the December holidays people spent HUF 2.7 billion on seasonal confectionery, buying 650 tons of sweets. Last November-December stores raked in 10 percent more in this category than in the same period a year earlier; volume sales improved by 1 percent. Chocolate Santa figures were the biggest hit, they generated sales in the value of HUF 1.7 billion – 18 percent more than in the base period. Gift packs were the second most popular, selling in the value of HUF 320 million but like-for-like sales decreased by 11 percent. Stores with a floor space of 400m² and above sold 84 percent of seasonal confectionery (in value). This means that value sales improved by 2 percentage points.
