However, the work remains demanding, with 10-12-hour shifts and accommodation issues posing challenges. Based on three recent advertisements, we examined what those wishing to work on the shores of Lake Balaton can expect this season – the article by Pénzcentrum shows.

Summer jobs on Lake Balaton offer significant opportunities year after year for those wishing to find a job in the hospitality industry. As the season approaches, the settlements around the lake advertise thousands of positions for students, career starters and even experienced professionals. The constantly rising wage levels, the increasingly professional services and the labor shortage all contribute to the fact that jobs in Balaton are an exciting alternative to opportunities in the capital or Western Europe year after year.

The summer effervescence of Lake Balaton is a significant attraction not only for tourists, but also for those looking for seasonal work. Several job advertisements have already been published for this summer, 2025, which have in common the promise of outstanding salaries, long shifts and accommodation-related solutions. An ice cream parlor in Balatonfüred offers a position with a 12-hour work schedule, 5 days a week, and with a net base of 2,100 HUF/hour, including gratuity and commission, the salary can reach up to 3,000 HUF/hour, which can result in a monthly income of 750–800 thousand HUF. The employer provides accommodation or travel reimbursement, and the condition for employment is basic language skills and money management skills.

An apartment management company is looking for cleaners and receptionists for seasonal work in a contractor scheme, the commission fee for 2–3 people is up to 2 million forints per month, which can mean an income of 700–1,000 thousand forints per person. Accommodation is provided at a high standard, free of charge, and working hours are adjusted to occupancy, making it more flexible than classic catering shifts.

A restaurant in Keszthely is looking for cooks and shift supervisors, for 8–9 hours of work per day, with a fixed Sunday off per week. The salary starts at twice the guaranteed net minimum wage (approx. 440–480 thousand forints/month net), but depending on professional experience it can be much higher. Meals and accommodation are provided, but these are subject to agreement. This opportunity is ideal for experienced professionals, and is offered not only as a seasonal but also as an annual position.

Hospitality workers in Lake Balaton can expect outstanding salaries in 2025, with net hourly wages reaching or exceeding 3,000 forints in most places. Seasonal jobs continue to require a high level of workload, with 10–12-hour shifts per day being common. At the same time, the high earnings that can be obtained in a short time make these jobs attractive to many. The summer in Lake Balaton therefore operates along the principle of “work hard, earn hard” – the question is who can keep up with the pace.
