The Tourinform offices handled a record number of guest inquiries in the first three quarters of this year
Tourinform offices managed more than 1.5 million guest inquiries until September this year, which is 200,000 more than in the same period last year. The developments of the network, the importance of digital awareness and future strategies were also discussed at the National Tourinform Meeting held on November 5.
At the opening of the event, Olivér Csendes, the CEO of Visit Hungary, spoke with appreciation about the importance of the Tourinform network, which he called unique in the European tourism sector. He pointed out that the members of the network are indispensable players in domestic tourism, who are in direct contact with thousands of tourism service providers, helping the wide availability and competitiveness of the tourism offer.
Anita Molnár, head of the Tourinform coordination office, also reported on the network’s successes. According to him, based on the performance evaluation system of the offices, the average performance of the network increased by 2 percentage points compared to the previous year, and nearly a third of the offices achieved a result above 90%, while six offices provided 100% performance. In the future, the goal is to monitor guest satisfaction digitally at the system level.
The development of the Tourinform offices is also supported by the HUF one billion government subsidy, which provides funds for 41 offices. As a result, 16 offices have been completely renovated, while 25 additional offices can make significant improvements in order to increase the guest experience.
Professional presentations at the meeting also helped the tour informants to keep up with digital development. András Somló, Budapest Park’s innovation manager, gave a presentation on the potential of MI in tourism marketing, while branding expert Dr. Árpád Papp-Váry encouraged the participants to define the target audience more precisely. In addition, they were able to learn about the results of the tourism events of the Hungarian EU Presidency, the developments of the Tourism Sector Support Program and the “Treasures of Hungary” umbrella trademark system.
