The now traditional Advent fundraising campaign took place in 143 PENNY stores, which was organized for the sixth time in cooperation with PENNY and the Hungarian Red Cross. The national initiative ended with a more successful result than ever before: customers donated nearly 47 thousand kilograms of non-perishable food, which the Hungarian Red Cross will deliver to those in need before the holidays.

“Supporting those in need is important to PENNY all year round, and we often involve our customers in this, in addition to our employees. We have organized the Advent fundraising campaign with the Hungarian Red Cross for the 6th year now, and we are pleased that thanks to our customers we can help those in need with a record amount of food this year”

– saidEszter Kazatsay, Head of Communications at PENNY Hungary.

During the two-day collection, several units received outstanding amounts of donations, which clearly shows the generosity of customers. The most successful was the PENNY in Sárospatak, where 588 kilograms of donations were collected, followed by the Baracsi út store in Dunaújváros with 497 kilograms, and the Mátyás király út store in Eger with 460 kilograms.

There was also spectacular activity at the county level: a total of 4,345 kilograms of donations were received in Békés County, Somogy contributed 3,821 kilograms, and Pest County contributed 3,348 kilograms. These results clearly reflect the fact that the willingness to support was particularly strong in many parts of the country.

In the coming weeks, the Hungarian Red Cross will deliver food donations to those families, the elderly and people in need who need help the most.

“Our joint national fundraising campaign with PENNY this year once again proved that by working together we can provide even greater help to those living in difficult situations. Thanks to customers and PENNY, we will deliver the donations received to our fellow human beings in need before Christmas, so that the holiday will be more beautiful and hopeful for them”

– emphasized István Kardos, Director General of the Hungarian Red Cross.

The organization and PENNY would like to thank all customers and colleagues who contributed to allowing thousands of people to feel the supportive power of the community before the holiday season.
