A raid was conducted in the parking lot: illegal fruit was measured in kilos
The National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) and the police conducted a joint inspection in the parking lot of the Decathlon store in Budapest’s 23rd district to crack down on the sale of unlicensed fruit and vegetables. A total of 2,600 kilograms of products were inspected during the operation, including blueberries, apricots, peaches and cherries.
Eight Romanians and one Hungarian citizen were caught red-handed selling unmarked, uninvoiced goods. Although the quality of the products met EU standards, the authorities initiated proceedings due to the lack of a sales permit. Irregularities can result in severe sanctions.
The NKFH and the police emphasized that they continue to pay special attention to curbing illegal trade and ask customers to only shop in authorized places.
