Helia-D development team participates in prestigious international research project
Hungary’s iconic cosmetics brand, Helia-D, has been invited to participate in a prestigious, multi-year international research project that is pioneering sustainable industrial innovation. As the sole representative of the Hungarian cosmetics sector, Helia-D’s development team has joined the LIGNOFUN project, which aims to replace fossil-based aromatic chemicals with environmentally friendly, lignin-based alternatives.
The team of experts will explore the possibilities of cosmetic applications of lignin-based raw materials, which will help create environmentally friendly, sustainable products.
Four decades in the spirit of skincare
Helia-D has been a key player in the Hungarian cosmetics industry for more than four decades. The brand owes its unique reputation to its high-quality, scientifically based skincare products that combine traditional Hungarian beauty heritage with the latest technological developments. Products include hydrating and anti-aging face creams, body lotions, hair care products, and professional cosmetic solutions. The brand is constantly expanding its portfolio to provide effective care for all skin types and needs, while maintaining its commitment to Hungarian-developed cosmetics.
Natural solutions against fossil addiction
The LIGNOFUN project aims to transform underutilized lignin, a natural, plant-based polymer that is responsible for the strength and resilience of plants, from paper production into a valuable raw material. The 18 partners involved in the project are working together to develop bio-based products that can be used industrially, while contributing to reducing the EU’s dependence on fossil fuels.
The first phase of the project focuses on improving the industrial processability of lignin, while the second phase will produce and test specific, high-value product prototypes, such as cosmetics, body care products, adhesives, and composite materials.
