Delhaize Mega-Image developing in Romania
According to reports in the Romanian press, Delhaize-owned Mega-Image is to focus its 2009 expansion strategy on Bucharest where the retailer plans to open eight stores next year.
By the end of 2009 the plan is to
extend the network to 48 stores from 38 at present. So far the
retailer has opened two stores in the current year, both in
Bucharest, and will open two more outlets by the end of 2008. In
addition the retailer is to invest EUR3.5 million by the end of 2009
in rebranding the La Fourmi supermarkets (acquired earlier this year)
to the Mega-Image banner.
