Anikó Raisz: Hungary is doing its best to prepare the EU for environmental challenge
During Hungary’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, it will do everything possible to ensure that the European Union is as well prepared as possible for environmental challenges, be it drought, flood risk, or their economic and social consequences – Anikó Raisz, the State Secretary responsible for the environment and circular economy of the Ministry of Energy, stated on Monday in Brussels.
Anikó Raisz of the European Parliament’s Committee on Environmental Protection, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) highlighted the priorities of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union: the entire European Union is facing challenges in relation to the threat of flooding, and flood protection is being successfully carried out in Hungary.
“Our success will depend on how well we are able to adapt to the new situation by involving experts and taking into account the work of specialists”
– she formulated.
He also said that the top priority of the six-month Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union is to increase the competitiveness of the EU, which also includes the environmental protection program.
He emphasized: Hungary took over the presidency of the Union in the second half of 2024 in a very difficult period from an environmental, economic, and social point of view.
