ProWine China: Ready to open its Doors to the international Wine Trade

From 13 to 15 November, top class wines and spirits from some 30 nations are the basis for the sold out premiere of ProWine China which will be held in Hall N1 of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. With 570 exhibitors the fair offers a unique business platform, making it the central meeting point for international producers, importers, distributors, retailers and F&B managers in China. “By offering such a large variety, quantity, and especially quality of wine and spirit producers at our event in Shanghai, we have proven our ability to bring the successful concept of ProWein, the world’s leading international trade fair for wines and spirits, also to the Chinese market,” says Michael Degen, Executive Director Messe Düsseldorf and Director ProWein with reference to the 30 countries participating at ProWine China adding: “I am convinced that exhibitors will use ProWine China to showcase their new vintages, product innovations and additions to their ranges”.

Trade Visitors can expect more

For the premiere event most exhibitors come from France followed by Argentina, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Wines of South Africa will be represented in Shanghai with 18 renowned wineries. 11 exhibitors from Hungary and 10 from Georgia will show what their countries have to offer as a wine and spirit producing nation. In the Mexican joint pavilion, wine and spirits experts have the chance to communicate and negotiate face to face with 10 Tequila producers. In total, there will be 16 national pavilions and 4 regional pavilions at ProWine China 2013.

Not only the classic cultivating countries in Europe and the New World but also rather exotic nations on the international wine and spirits market will be showcasing their wide portfolios at ProWine China 2013. For instance, Krsma Estates, a winery near Hampi, a UNESCO world heritage site in Karnataka, India, will bring among others its Cabernet Sauvignon and its Sauvignon Blanc to the fairground (Hall N1, DF08). The Ukraine based company Amnesia will present some of Ukraine wines, cognac and liquors including its wide range of Absinth (Hall N1, X39). Enjoy Wine & Spirits, one of the largest wine suppliers on the Swedish alcohol market, sees ProWine China as its gateway to the Chinese market, bringing along their Real World Wines (Hall N1, BA08).

Most notable Event Program promises added Value

The program spectrum offered by a total of some 100 events is wide, varied and unique. “With the event program at ProWine China 2013 we set a new benchmark in China,” says Brendan Jennings General Manager China International Exhibitions adding: “Having so many high class events combined with the variety, quantity and quality of international exhibitors we are very well prepared to welcome the trade next week in Shanghai.”

Various group participations such as from California, France and Spain will present a wide range of seminars directly at the exhibition stands. The ProWine China Forum (Hall N1, DG07) and ProWine China Master Classes (Hall N1, DC10) are the central lecture areas of the specialized wine exhibition. For example, two seminars in the ProWine China Forum are organized by Wines of Portugal. On 13 and 14 November the top Portuguese sommelier, educator and wine advisor Manuel Moreira will give participants an introduction to the regions, grapes varieties, wine production methods, as well as the wine styles of Portugal. Leading wine education provider in China, WSET Wine & Spirits Education offers an insight in how to develop professional tasting skills in the ProWine China Master Classes on 15 November.

The jury of the only Chinese sommelier focused blind tasting wine event of its kind, the China Sommeliers Wines and Spirits Challenge (CSWSC), will announce the results on the 13th of November, the first day of ProWine China. This year’s jury is formed by China's leading sommeliers and a panel of internationally renowned Master Sommeliers such as Michael Jordan and Frank Kämmer. Visitors have the unique opportunity to taste and explore award winning wines during the three days exhibition at the ProWine China Distributor’s Club.

ProWine China will also be the host to the first Winestars competition in Asia. Finalists will be presenting their stories and wines in a live audition directly to a high class jury. Winestars World China 2013 has pulled together a panel of the country’s leading buyers and importers, as well as some of the country’s top sommeliers. The Shanghai Magnum Night, a gala dinner on the 13th of November at the 5 star Westin Hotel Bund Centre in Shanghai, proves to be the ideal wine networking occasion after the first show day of ProWine China. “The demand for tickets is so high that we have to place new reservations on a waiting list,” says Hermann Mayer, the organizer of the Magnum Night, and further says: “In only two years the Magnum Night has become one of the biggest Wine Dinning Events in Asia.“
