Premio Sirena D’oro in Sorrento, for the sixteenth time
The Italian Trade Agency (ICE-Agenzia) invited journalists – among them a representative of Trade magazine – to Sorrento, to the Premio Sirena d’Oro olive oil summit and award ceremony between 5 and 8 April. At the event organised by the Italian Olive Growers’ Association (UNAPROL), protected designation of origin (PDO), protected geographical indication (PGI) and organic olive oils were competing for the 16th time, in order to promote high-quality Italian olive oils in Italy and abroad – told UNAPROL president David Granieri.
The Sirena d’Oro winners were announced at a press conference held in the Italian parliament building on 28 March. Olive oils from the Lazio, Umbria, Campania and Puglia finished in the Top 3. According to data from the international olive council (IOC) from November 2017, 2.9 million tons of olive oil is produced at world level. //
