Praktiker: personal advice is coming, shopping is getting easier

The nationwide DIY chain Praktiker will introduce several innovations, including personal advice, starting this fall. Due to the launch of Otthon Start in September, this could be especially helpful for those who are about to renovate or build their homes. The changes will start in the Budaörs and Bécsi út stores, and according to plans, customers will be able to encounter them in more and more units in the future. The shopping areas will be renewed, and customers who come with more complex requests (such as renovations or construction) will be helped by special consultants, so-called brand ambassadors, in the implementation of their projects. The support is available in all stores: the brand ambassadors can also be reached by video call.

The Hungarian-owned DIY chain will help customers with personal advice and several new services starting in the fall of 2025. The changes can be seen first in the Praktiker stores in Budaörs and Bécsi út. The transformation of the shopping area can be seen first in Budaörs: it is more transparent and better adapted to customer needs and orientation habits. Rapid parking is also now available in this unit to facilitate fast delivery of goods. The aim of the innovations is to make orientation easier, shopping more convenient, and overall improve the customer experience.

At Praktiker, which operates 23 stores, customers implementing larger projects, such as those with a Home Start loan, are assisted by colleagues working as so-called brand ambassadors with personal advice. They provide detailed expert support to those who have, for example, started a kitchen or bathroom renovation or are building a house. László Flórián, Praktiker’s managing director, said: our customers are increasingly looking for complete solutions rather than individual products. With the brand ambassador program and store developments, Praktiker supports the smooth implementation of projects from planning to implementation. Personal consultants are available from all stores via video call if necessary.

Brand ambassadors view the necessary products together with customers and, if necessary, involve specialist salespeople and logistics colleagues in product selection and product preparation. For example, if someone is renovating a kitchen, they provide advice on planning, guide the customer through the necessary departments and help compile a list from coverings to lighting. Brand ambassadors also act as a kind of knowledge center at Praktiker: they can even reach experts in other stores with their digital devices – thus helping them find the right, personalized solution.
