Prague has banned organized night beer tours for tourists
Pub crawls organized by tourists have been banned by the Prague municipality. The measure, which will come into effect immediately after publication in the official gazette, was initiated by the downtown representatives after the population became increasingly disturbed by the loud noise of drunken tourist groups marching from pub to pub and the frequent disturbances.
In a statement, Prague Pub Crawl, the largest company organizing beer tours at night, called the municipality’s decision a populist move, which, according to them, will not solve the problem of nighttime noise and will only make the situation worse.
The Drunken Monkey company also published a similar statement. According to them, the noise and disturbances at night are caused by groups of unorganized tourists.
Prague Deputy Mayor Zdenek Hrib told reporters that the problem was discussed with the Prague City Tourism company, which organizes tourism in the capital, and with the representatives of the organization of tour guides.
The organizations dealing with classic guided tours had no objection to the measure, noted Hrib.
The banning of beer tours at night was achieved by the municipality by amending the market regulations in force in the city.
