Caloric values on food labels are inaccurate
Caloric values on food labels are inaccurate – state researchers, who are suggesting the revision of the currently used calorie calculation method.
Previous studies have shown that the method of food preparation and consumption can also affect the amount of calories at last. At some foods – due to their structure – some of the calories are unavailable for the body during digestion. A certain percentage of the calories goes to help the digestion itself, while a portion is used by intestinal bacterias. The currently used calorie calculation method does not take these facts into account. (MTI)
