Gophers stormed the melon fields

The harvest of the early ripening melon has started in the Jászság. The rain was good for the harvest, but the gophers caused enormous havoc.

The szoljon.hu reported that the volume of the melons near Jászapáti is roughly the same as last year’s harvest, but due to the rains of the recent days it may be even better than that.
The situation could be even better, but the gophers are decimating the crop. – There is a huge gopher invasion this year. (origo.hu)
