Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the…- PLMA 2010, Istanbul
2009 was the year of private labels: due to the economic crisis spending habits changed all over Europe and
these changes were favourable for Private Label. The PLMA 2010 conference on 24-25 February in Istanbul will
be focusing on expectations for 2010. According to PLMA president Brian Dharoff, 2010 will bring significant
changes for private labels. This year may see the return of ‘A’ brands: economic development may entail their
reconquesting of the market segment they lost in 2009. On the 25th the conference will deal with the strategic
analysis of private labels: David Shriver of the Tulchan Group will speak about the expectations private labels
need to face these days. The producers’ side will be represented by Alastair Woodcock from United Biscuits,
while retailers’ opinion will be told by Nathalie Pellen from Food, Casino; consumers’ voice will be heard through
Richard Herbert from Europanel. Jeremy Whinnett of Agentrics will give a presentation about the best strategies
of the future. On the 24th there will be a visit to Istanbul’s main super- and hypermarkets; Robert Gregory
from Planet Retail will speak about the Turkish market. The event will be held at Hilton Istanbul, for more information:
