Mall construction fever in Iraq: consumer society from oil revenues?
Shopping centers are under construction all over in Baghdad. In the largest mall a five-star hotel and a hospital will also be installed.
“Iraq essentially aims to create a consumer society, but not the Chinese-style state capitalism, but on the basis of socialism” – Marie-Helene Bricknell, the World Bank's representative in Iraq told New York Times. (MTI-Press)
