If it’s October, then it’s the Kürtőskalács Festival, but October is also the month of fighting breast cancer – we are now happily combining these two at the 12th Kürtőskalács Festival at the Zoo feat Pink Gastro Campaign!

“The special thing about the festival is that for the third year in a row it will be hosted by the Budapest Botanical Garden and Zoo, which will be completely covered by stands making kürtőskalács and pink kürtőskalács and desserts, and we are even taking over the Biodóm area! We are waiting for visitors with 10 kürtőskalács stands: in addition to traditional kürtőskalács, special flavors will be offered at the Ízbombák stand, and two places will have 100% gluten- and dairy-free kürtőskalács, but they will also be made only from vegan ingredients. The Édes Mackó The Kürtőskalács-Cukrászda is waiting for you with its wonderful Kürtőskalács desserts in two locations, the Kürtős Fondülde – where we offer sliced Kürtőskalács with various toppings – can be found in the Biodóm area, but the big success is in the making at KÜRTŐSBON – filled dough Kürtőskalács in two locations, and the Do-It-Yourself workshop will also be located in the Crafts Courtyard. And the charitable part of it all is that every Kürtőskalács bakery will have a pink product: Raspberry Kürtőskalács, Raspberry Kürtős Creamy, Raspberry Kürtősbon, Raspberry Kürtős Fondü, with the purchase of which and from the price we can support the Breast Cancer Info Association ”
– says András Tünde, the main organizer of the Kürtőskalács Festival – who was himself involved in this matter, and in fact, there is a colleague who makes Kürtőskalács who is lucky enough to have fell on breast cancer, so they consider raising awareness very important!
“In Hungary, every tenth (!!!) woman will be affected in her lifetime and every year we lose 2000 (!) women, mothers, sisters, wives (among others) due to late detection. We would like to draw the attention of even more women (and men, because in the best case scenario, every man has a woman, mother, sister, friend) to the importance of mammography screenings and the fact that breast cancer detected in time is very curable. And if we can raise awareness of this in at least 12 places within the framework of the Kürtőskalács Festival, and if even one woman goes for a screening test as a result, or if we have broken the taboo, fear, and anxiety related to the disease in a few people, then it will be worth going to the Kürtőskalács Festival To the festival!
– says Borbála Halom, president of the Breast Cancer Awareness Association!
