This multi-year collaboration, announced at the CES 2026 trade show, is the first of its kind by a global consumer packaged-goods company, ESM Magazine reports based on PepsiCo’s statement.
As demand for production and distribution capacity increases, PepsiCo has opted to move away from slow and costly traditional expansion methods.
Instead, it is using AI and new digital approaches to process simulation and facility design to optimise layouts, virtually before any physical construction begins.
Specifically, PepsiCo is using the Siemens Digital Twin Composer, powered by NVIDIA Omniverse libraries, to simulate facility upgrades, starting in the US and eventually expanding globally.
Industrial Metaverse Environments
By creating large-scale industrial metaverse environments, companies can combine 2D and 3D digital-twin data with real-time physical information in a secure, photorealistic virtual scene.
This facilitates rapid virtual decision-making using industrial AI and simulation throughout a product’s, process’s or facility’s life cycle.
By recreating every aspect of a facility and testing changes virtually, PepsiCo can identify up to 90% of potential issues before physical implementation.
This has resulted in a 20% increase in throughput in initial deployments, driving faster design cycles, near 100% design validation, and a 10-15% reduction in capex by identifying hidden capacities.
Athina Kanioura, CEO, Latin America, and global chief strategy and transformation officer of PepsiCo, commented, “With a unified, AI-powered digital foundation, PepsiCo is building toward a world where every plant and warehouse operates as part of a single, intelligent ecosystem.
“In this future, our facilities don’t just respond to demand, they anticipate and then adapt to it.”
