Diaper factory to be built in Gyöngyös
András Dancsó, the director of the new Pampers production plant to be built in Gyöngyös told our magazine that in the 2011-2012 business year Procter&Gamble’s worldwide turnover was USD 83.7 billion. The company is present in 75 countries and 4.6 billion people use its products every day, including leading brands such as Pampers®, Ariel®, Always®, Gillette® and Head&Shoulders®. P&G sells 23 of its global brands in Hungary and up until now the majority of Pampers diapers came here from Poland. From the end of 2013 the new Göngyös production facility will supply Hungarian stores with Pampers diapers. USD 85 billion is spent in the greenfield investment, establishing a 240,000m² factory and creating 150 new jobs. P&G also counts on regional businesses in supplying them with goods and services. Suppliers have to meet strict criteria, but those who manage to do so can even become international P&G suppliers. The high level of production in P&G’s Csömör factory, which has been up and running for more than 20 years and is the second biggest feminine hygiene product manufacturer of the company, contributed to choosing Gyöngyös to be the new production site. Sustainability and environmental protection are very important to Procter & Gamble and the new factory will have the LEED (Leadership in Energy&Enviromental Design) certification, attesting that it meets the highest efficiency and sustainability standards
