Beijing launches drone delivery service on the Great Wall
Beijing has launched the first drone delivery on the Bataling section of the Great Wall, which will allow tourists to get emergency supplies, such as drinking water, within minutes if necessary, the Bataling Landscape Protection District announced on Friday.
The delivery point for the new route on the extended line of the wall is the Ninth Watchtower South, which was opened in 2023 and the area is currently home to a variety of recreational activities. However, the high number of visitors and the lack of commercial facilities at this point made it difficult to replenish the visitor’s supplies.
In order to solve the delivery of supplies and start the route, the landscape protection district has entered into an agreement with a package delivery platform, thanks to which tourists arriving at the delivery point can place their order on a food delivery platform by scanning a QR code with their mobile phone, and then the ordered product will be delivered within five minutes. This part of the wall can be reached on foot in about 50 minutes.
